METRO/Makro integration

Your METRO and Makro sales in your books, automatically

METRO Markets is METRO's online marketplace. In the Netherlands it goes by the name Makro: buyers order on makro.nl, while you manage your listings in METRO Seller Office. One thing works differently here than on bol.com or the Mirakl marketplaces: METRO issues the buyer's invoice itself, in your name and with your VAT number. That is why slimzaak does not create a second invoice. Instead, it fetches your orders and METRO's invoices automatically and processes them into your revenue, your VAT overview and the export to your bookkeeping.

METRO / Makroslimzaak

Orders and METRO's own invoices come in; slimzaak books them.

    Orders

Every Makro order in slimzaak without lifting a finger

You connect your METRO seller account using the API keys from Seller Office. From then on, slimzaak pulls in your orders by itself, with products, amounts and VAT. Whether a buyer orders through makro.nl or another METRO channel, everything arrives through the same connection and sits in slimzaak next to the sales from your other channels. No more copying figures over from Seller Office.

    • Connected with the API keys from your METRO Seller Office
    • Orders from makro.nl and the other METRO channels through one connection
    • Products, amounts and VAT taken over for each order
    • Side by side with your other sales channels in one overview
  2. 02

    Invoices

METRO writes the invoice, slimzaak books it

On bol.com and the Mirakl marketplaces, slimzaak creates the invoice. On METRO there is no need: METRO drafts an invoice for every order itself, carrying your company name and VAT number but numbered in METRO's own series, and hands it to the buyer. An invoice of our own on top would give a single sale two invoice numbers. So slimzaak retrieves METRO's document and books it under METRO's number. If a return follows, slimzaak also takes over METRO's credit note, so your revenue is right again.

    • No duplicate invoice alongside METRO's
    • Booked under the invoice number METRO used
    • METRO credit notes for returns taken over as well
  3. 03

    Bookkeeping

METRO revenue and VAT that add up in your books

Because slimzaak works with METRO's own invoices, your figures line up with what the buyer and the platform see. Revenue from METRO counts towards your reports, the VAT on every METRO invoice appears in your VAT overview, and all of it goes along in the export to your accounting package or your accountant. At the end of the quarter, there is no need to download invoices from Seller Office and check them one by one.

    • METRO revenue included in your reports
    • VAT from METRO invoices in your VAT overview
    • Included in the export to your bookkeeping

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between METRO Markets and Makro Marketplace?
It is the same marketplace. METRO Markets is METRO's online marketplace; in the Netherlands it sells under the Makro name. Your buyers order on makro.nl and see on their invoice that they bought through Makro, while you manage your listings, orders and API keys in METRO Seller Office. In slimzaak you therefore connect your METRO account, even if all your buyers come in through Makro.
Why doesn't slimzaak create invoices for my METRO orders?
Because METRO already does. For every order, METRO drafts an invoice on your behalf: with your company name and VAT number, but with a number from METRO's own series. That invoice goes to the buyer. If your invoicing tool created an invoice of its own as well, your records would hold two invoices for one sale, and both revenue and VAT would be counted twice. That is why slimzaak takes over METRO's invoice instead of making one.
How do I connect my METRO account to slimzaak?
In METRO Seller Office, create a key pair under API Keys: a client key and a client secret. Enter both in slimzaak when you add your store. Note that METRO shows the secret only once, so copy it straight away. From then on, slimzaak fetches your orders and the matching METRO invoices by itself.
Which METRO documents does slimzaak retrieve?
The invoices METRO drafts for your orders and, when there is a return, the credit note. slimzaak attaches each document to the right order and books it under the number METRO used. That way, slimzaak and your bookkeeping show the same number the buyer sees on their invoice.
Does METRO report my sales to the tax authorities?
Yes, once you cross the DAC7 threshold. These EU rules require platforms to report sellers who make 30 or more sales in a calendar year or earn more than 2,000 euros. METRO reports this to the tax authorities, and through the EU's data exchange the information reaches the tax authority of the country where you are established; for a Dutch seller that is the Belastingdienst. Because slimzaak uses the same invoices as METRO, the revenue in your records matches what the platform reports about you.
What does slimzaak cost for METRO sellers?
You start for free, no credit card required. To connect your METRO account you need a paid plan, starting with Starter at 9 euros per month with 1 connected store. If you also sell through other channels, pick a plan with more connected stores.
